• Girls U13 (Grades 5-6)

The 5th-6th team plays with 12 players (11 field and 1 goalie) on each side and on a full field. We believe in full participation so everyone gets to play.  There will be practices during the week and 9 games.  Games are usually scheduled on Saturdays unless there is a field or team conflict.  We are also planning on playing in 2 or 3 Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association Jamborees.

The spring season kicks off in late February and runs through the first week of June.  As teams are built and schedules are solidified we will communicate to all players and post the information below.

    Mandatory Equipment:

Players are responsible for bringing the following equipment to practice and games. Please put your name on all gear.

    1. Mouth Guard. We recommend getting two so you always have an extra in your bag. Make sure to fit it properly so it is comfortable and does not cause gagging.
    2. Goggles
    3. Girls Lacrosse Stick
    4. Cleats
    5. Water Bottle

    Optional BUT highly recommended equipment:

Spring is cold & wet around here so dress for the weather!

    • Light weight gore-tex jacket
    • Sweat shirt or microfleece
    • Gloves. Anything that will keep hands warm and dry.
    • Stocking cap
    • Hand warmer packs
    • A bag to keep your gear in

What does it cost to play?
The cost for the spring season is $200

If you’re currently involved in winter sports, that should be enough running and jumping to prepare you for our first practice. If you’re not involved in winter sports or you want to do a little extra, below are some suggestions. Remember to warm up and stretch before full speed exertion.

    1. Light jog (3-5 minutes)
    2. 40 yard sprints. 20 seconds rest between each sprint (5 minutes)
    3. Down and back sprints. 20 yards distance. Work on change of direction and acceleration back to start line.
    4. Wall Sits 1 minute each (set of 3)
    5. Planks 1 minute each (set of 3)

    5 Fundamental Skills:

Spend some time with friends, siblings or parents working on these skills.

    1. Grip on stick. Light hands. Top hand should hold stick in fingers, not palm.
    2. Cradling (motion of stick while ball is in your possession) work left and right hand on top.
    3. Ground Balls. Bend your knees, rear end down, stick low to ground, accelerate through the ball.
    4. Catching. Nice target. Arms slightly bent and away from your body. Head of stick should give as you catch ending up next to your ear.
    5. Throwing. Stick is a lever. Push with top hand, pull with the bottom. Motion is much like throwing a ball.

For throwing and catching, the best exercise is to play wall ball. Watch video below:
